1000 crore Financial assistance for Punjab: MP Vikram Sahney

Dr. Vikramjit Singh Sahney, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha from Punjab revealed that Ministry of Finance, Government of India have allocated an amount of rupees 994 crore for Punjab out of the 55,000 crore rupees of part 1 for financial assistance with 50-years interest free loan. MP Vikram Sahney who is also member of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee of Finance had made several interventions including Special Mention in the monsoon session of the parliament requesting for special financial assistance to Punjab.

As per written response to Dr. Sahney by Minister of Finance, capital expenditure amounting to rupees 548.93 crores have been approved for Punjab and are under release, proposals for balance rupees 445 crores under part 1 united of the scheme are awaited.

Dr. Sahney also informed that ministry of finance have also agreed to release additional financial assistance to Punjab out of balance 1 lakh crore rupees for capital expenditure for sectors such as urban planning, urban finance, Make in India, One District One Product and special assistance for establishing libraries with digital infrastructure at Panchayat and Ward level in which Punjab should Target for minimum 5000 crore rupees grants.

Dr. Sahney thanked Harpal Singh Cheema, Finance Minister, Punjab for his continued cooperation in briefing these issues and requested that the state government should immediately submit sector specific proposals in the above areas to get additional grants expeditiously.

Dr. Sahney said that he is committed to rigorously pursue the release of maximum financial grants from ministry of finance government of India for state of Punjab.
