Former Honorary Consul of the Republic of South Africa

Mr. Vikramjit Sahney had the distinction of being appointed as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of South Africa in India. He stands as the right choice for being an Honorary Consul because of his professional background and sociocultural standing with South Africa.

Mr. Sahney received his Letter of Commission as Honorary Consul from H.E., Dr. Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Zuma, Hon’ble Head of the State and Mrs. Maite N. Mashabane, Hon’ble Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Govt. of South Africa.

Former Honorary Consul, Mr. Sahney’s responsibilities were directed towards development of commercial, economic, cultural and social relations between India and South Africa and also promoted friendly relations between the two. His mandate also included consular, promotional, facilitation, information and reporting, immigration and civic services under the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, 1963.

While accepting his letter of Commission from South Africa and its endorsement from the President of India, Mr. Sahney said, “I look forward to the new initiatives that will further cement South Africa to India for mutual benefit as both the nations are bound together by the shared history of common historical struggle against the evils of colonialism, apartheid, racism and injustice of all sorts. Both the countries have several profound reasons for strategic and responsible partnership to achieve the common objective and mutual benefits in combating poverty and promoting peace, stability and sustainable development. In my capacity as Honorary Consul, it would be my best endeavour to fulfill a significant role in promoting the economic, social, cultural and tourist life of the host country”.
