Shera – the mascot, symbolised the face of the Delhi 2010, energising the city and exhorting everyone to ‘come out and play’ and make the Commonwealth Games 2010 a grand success. Shera was chosen a mascot as a significant reminder of the depleting numbers of his species and the fragile environment he lives in and our responsibility towards the protection of his race and his ecosystem.
The song ‘Shera’ was conceived and produced by Vikramjit in his attempt at drawing concern for environment and healthy games. The song reflects the values Shera stands for. He is an achiever, a global citizen, justifiably proud of his nation’s ancient heritage, a fierce competitor with integrity and honesty. It has the energy and power to generate a healthy spirit of competition and enthusiasm among the masses, especially the youth.
The song has been sung in Hindi and English by Vikramjit, Shibani Kashyap and Millind. It reflects the spirit of Shera, representing majesty, power, charisma and grace. This song has the distinction of live performance by Vikramjit and his team at the opening ceremony of Commonwealth Games 2010 where it generated tremendous amount of excitement in the masses while it urged everyone to join in with healthy spirit of the Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi.
“Patriotism is an emotion and attitude,” passionately emphasized Vikramjit Sahney. “It’s a sense of belonging. It is a time for all of us to play a part,” he added. “India is a land of promise and passion. Let’s unite once again and make the Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi a success.”
The song produced and presented to Organising Committee Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi by Sun Foundation, a charitable institution.
