Other Charitable Initiatives

Sun Foundation along with AWWA (Army Wives Welfare Association) works for a noble project "Asha Kiran-Taare Zameen Par" for children above 18 years of age. The project is aimed at empowering them for economic self-reliance. Sun Foundation has been running vocational training centre for a few years now whereby this initiative provided platform to train young adults with disabilities in income generating vocations. Sun Foundation is committed to help these young adults to secure a job and have a sense of purpose in life. The Foundation was instrumental in setting up of Widows' Child Fund with corpus fund of Rs. 1 crore for the education of children of poor widows in the state of Punjab. Approximately 250 poor children of widows are studying under this scheme. It has adopted the family of great soldier, Colonel G.S. Sarna, who sacrificed his life while fighting for the nation in Kashmir. Another initiative was launched ‘Roko Cancer’ movement in the state of Punjab with the aid of mobile medical services like superior X-ray machines, ultra-sound and mammography. It provides education to the deprived children by setting up ‘Angels of Sun’ education home. Financial support has been extended to a de-addiction centre managed by Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle, Ludhiana which adopted economically weak students from the rural areas of Punjab by providing them admission in an integrated engineering course at Punjabi University, Patiala. It has set up a state-of-the-art lab at Brijindra College, Faridkot.
