NELSON MANDELA DAY CELEBRATIONS

Celebrating the Sprit of Nelson Mandela - Make Everyday A Mandela Day : Cleaning Drive at Priya Complex Vasant Vihar

The birthday of late son of Africa, Dr. Nelson Mandela was celebrated with full fervance by South Africa High Commission, Honorary Consulate & Spring Dales school in its true spirit of giving 67 minutes of their time to the service of fellow beings and change the world for better. The campaign message was loud and clear - Take Action, Inspire Change, Make everyday a Mandela Day!

The day started with Excellency F.K. Marule & Padma Shri Vikramjit S. Sahney, High Commissioner & Hony. Consul, joined by all other diplomats & officials of the Mission taking on the daunting task of cleaning the entire Priya Market Complex at Vasant Vihar, giving atleast 67 minutes of their lives to the service of the community. This noble campaign was also joined by other Diplomatic Missions including the active participation by the Ambassadors of Slovenia & Togo . Later on, there was a cultural programme & prize distribution for budding talents in different fields in Spring Dales School.

Speaking on the occasion, Excellency France Morule said that Mandela’s legacy is a challenge for us to rise above adversity and inspires us to fight for freedom and justice and make the world a better place to live.

Padma Shri Vikramjit S. Sahney, Hony Consul General announced setting up of Mandela Skill Development Centre at Delhi. He also announced cash awards to the prized winners. While remembering the life & objective of both Madiba & Mahatma Gandhi with great adulation , he voiced his grave concerns over the prevailing unrest globally and stated "injustice and crime are threatening the future of humankind. It is everyone's responsibility to create a just and humane environment and the stabalisation of glabal population. We need to drive inspiration from Madia & Gandhi to lead a life of courage, wisdom and inclusive society striving towards betterment of human race and not towards destruction."
