Vikramjit Singh Sahney as Chief Guest on the occasion of the celebration of prestigious Africa Nite unanimously participated by High Commissions of all African countries with their presence in India. The theme of the event was 'celebrating the New India-Africa Partnership'.

While thanking the Africa Diplomatic Group for inviting him as Chief Guest, Vikramjit reaffirmed the solidarity between India and Africa stating that although separated by the Indian Ocean, they are still next door neighbours. Relationship between Africa and India dates back to thousands of years with long traditions of friendship and common historical struggle against the evils of colonialism, apartheid, racism and injustice of all sorts. In fact, India and Africa have several profound reasons for strategic, balanced and responsible partnership in this 21st century, to achieve the common objective and mutual benefits in combating poverty and promoting peace, stability and sustainable development in Africa and India. The tremendous potential for bilateral support could target areas of investments in Human Resources Development, Capacity Building, Trading & E-connectivity programmes etc. On the international scenario, India and Africa need to work together to bring Africa and India's position related to United Nations reforms.

Vikramjit called upon Heads of all missions present to interact and work together for a flourished, deep and everlasting partnership between Africa & India.
